Some portrait photography for me today. I knew Euan from back in my RBS days, and he got in touch recently to ask if I would do a family portrait session which would include himself, brother, sister and all their kids. It was touch and go whether we would do these inside or out, but the rain that had been falling that morning put paid to the idea of going outside. So, out came the speedlights and off we went…indoors.
During these type of sessions, I’ll always do some formal portraits where everyone is looking straight at camera. But, I’ll also look to create some images that are a little bit different and inject more of a reportage feel into the picture, usually by asking everyone just to look at one person specifically – this usually injects a bit of a laugh as well, which again makes for some great images.
