West Lothian Portrait Photography:
Jen & Barry’s Pre-Wedding Shoot at the Scottish Owl Centre

Something a little different for me today guys as I’m out and about with Jen & Barry on their pre-wedding shoot. Usually, couples opt for their pre-wedding shoot in parks or down by the sea or the like and that’s fine, as there’s good shots to be had there but, today, I’m at the Scottish Owl Centre where the guys have booked a private session with the owls, and I’m along with them to capture it as best I can. From recollection (and please do correct me if I’m wrong here) the proposal took place at a bird of prey centre, hence the significance of where we are today.

I’ve got to admit that I’ve never done a shoot anywhere like here before so I don’t really know what to expect, but it soon all becomes clear as the first owl is brought out and just buzzes around the room flying between the gloves that Jen & Barry are wearing and then up to a perch, narrowly missing me with each pass! You know, I’ve got to hand it to the pros who photograph birds for a living; this is no easy gig. The speed at which they pass by is quite something and it takes quite a while before I come even close to getting any “in flight” shots – I’ve posted some here but you should see the number that didn’t make the cut :-(!!! Suffice to say the call from National Geographic will be a while away yet! And, to cap it all, it’s really quite dark inside as well – photographer friends will know when I say ISO3200 what I mean!

Guys, I hope you like the images, the full set of which can be found in your online gallery. Thank you for asking me along to photograph what was a very enjoyable session. Here’s just a few of my own favourites.

Please feel free to leave a comment or two at the bottom of the post as it’s always very much appreciated. And, what would be totally phenomenal, is a “Like” on my Facebook page as it’s always great to get new people on board.

Mike
