Edinburgh Wedding Photography:
Emily & Ryan at Edinburgh Zoo

If ever there was a unique venue for a wedding (and, of course, wedding photography), then I’m sure Edinburgh Zoo would be right at the top of the list. And this is where I was today for the wedding of Emily & Ryan. We had a good laugh when the guys came up from London a few weeks ago for their pre-wedding shoot in the Dean Village so I had a feeling that today was going to be a good day, and that’s exactly how it turned out.

Weddings at the Zoo are conducted in the Mansion House and, for all intents and purposes, if you chose not to leave the House at all throughout the course of the day, you probably wouldn’t even know you were in a zoo (apart from perhaps the menus on the table that say “Edinburgh Zoo”, or the façade on the door that says “The Royal Zoological Society”, or the many “Zoo” related pictures scattered around the place, or the occasional animal noises in the distance)…oh, OK, so perhaps there are some clues as to where you are, but you know what I mean.

That all said, the guys told me that they definitely wanted the pictures to reflect where they had got married which meant trying to encompass some images with the animals in them. An earlier recce had indicated that this might be a bit trickier than at first envisaged, as most of the animal’s pens and enclosures didn’t really lend themselves to incorporating a bride & groom in the picture as well. Of all the options, the meerkat’s enclosure seemed to offer the best opportunity, as I was able to stand at one side with Emily & Ryan on the other. Of course, there’s a huge slice of luck in the images we managed to get (after all, I’m not Dr. Doolittle), but sometimes you make your own luck and when you hope something might happen, sometimes, well it just does.

Great day all round; the weather played ball and I loved the Star Wars touch on the cake and, of course, the choice of music for the first dance.

Guys, hope you like the images which, as usual, can be found in the online gallery (password required), but here’s a few of my favourite images from the day.

Hi Anne, thanks for your comments. Glad you didn’t tell me about your expectations before the wedding :). Sorry about the “crisp” shot also (although I didn’t use it in the blog post).ReplyCancel
