No Distance Too Far:
A Very Joyous Wedding at Airth Castle

First wedding of the year for me and it’s freezing…brrrr! I’m even sporting a jumper for the first time in what seems like ages. Could do the sensible thing and wear a coat I guess but that just feels so restrictive, especially when I go into “crazy photographer” mode and start lying on floors and the like.

With Nikki & Josh today, kicking off with their ceremony at Cathcart Trinity Church before hotfooting it up to Airth Castle for their reception. Been to Airth Castle a few times before but Cathcart Trinity is a new venue for me. Naturally, I’ve been at quite a few church ceremonies in the past but I can honestly say that today was one of the most upbeat and joyous I’ve ever attended, complete with a cracking band and choral singers. Rather stupidly, I positioned myself next to the band to kick off with and was rudely shaken to the core as soon as the drums kicked in…swiftly I moved to the other side of the room :-).

Josh is from Australia, and Nikki will be going over to live there shortly. It was great to hear the stories of how the guys first met doing missionary work in Jordan and then spent some years texting, “Skype”ing and travelling to keep in touch. Was also great to see so many of Josh’s family and friends making the long trip over and adding some extra colour to the days proceedings – must’ve felt especially cold for you guys today, being used to the warmer climes of down under and that!

I love shooting at Airth Castle. It’s one of my local venues so I’m aware of a lot of the nooks and crannies that make this a really unique place for creating some great images. And, being January, the light fades fast and gives us the chance to use the floodlights on the castle for a stunning backdrop…love it! And, no wedding at Airth would be complete without my usual shot down in the moat…very quirky.

Guys, thank you for choosing me to shoot your wedding day and I hope you have many happy days together down in Australia. Here’s some of my favourite images from your fantastic day.
