Early October last year certainly was the time for Edinburgh weddings for me, with three to shoot in that part of the world in just over a week. Of course, I’ll actually travel anywhere to shoot a wedding, even overseas if anyone wants me :-). Naturally though, the majority do still tend to be in central Scotland, with Edinburgh being no exception and slap bang in that catchment area.
So then, for my 340th wedding (yep, I have shot that many) I was back again at the Braid Hills Hotel for Karen & Paul’s big day. And…what glorious weather we were blessed with…shorts & t-shirts weather even…although not many of those on display for a wedding of course!
Wall to wall sunshine can sometimes be a wee bit tricky to shoot in…harsh shadows and all that. But, on the flip side, you can also use the sun as one great big flashlight (especially for the bride & groom shots), and play around with all that contrasty light and shade stuff :-). And, of course, the other huge bonus of a clear day, especially in Autumn, is a fabulous sunset which we were lucky to just catch the end of before it all went and disappeared.

I love shooting weddings and, for the most part, I adopt a “ninja style” low key approach to the day! Most couples tell me they didn’t even notice me for the majority of the day and that suits me…it is your wedding day after all, not a photo-shoot!
