I think it’s pretty safe to say that, as far as I can recall, for every wedding that I’ve ever shot, the day has started with me getting prepared from home, and home, for me, is Larbert, just outside Falkirk. But not this day…on this day, I’m waking up in Largs, right over on the west coast, and a good 80 odd miles from where I’m meant to be for Helen & Richard’s wedding at the Ghillie Dhu in Edinburgh. Why? Well folks, for the first time in what seems like years, the day before, I actually attended a wedding myself as a guest, and that doesn’t happen very often let me tell you. Usually, when any family or friends tie the knot, I’m often asked to do their photography for them which, naturally, I’m very honoured to do :-).
So, Largs it was as the starting point for the day and, after a long drive through to Edinburgh, via home first to get all my kit, I started as usual with Helen doing the detail and bridal prep shots before a short hop along the road to the Ghillie Dhu to do some shots with Richard and the guys. This was the first time I’d ever shot at the Ghillie Dhu, although I had been here before for a drink or two (or three or four), and it’s a brilliant venue…has a bit of a “gothic” feel to it if that’s the right word to use?
Helen & Richard – a big thank you for asking me to photograph your wedding day and sharing it with all your family and friends. Here’s just a few of my favourite images from the day which I hope you like.
Please all feel free to leave a comment at the bottom of the post as I love to hear what you think :-). Even better, if you really like these, why not give me a “Like” on my Facebook page to keep in touch with what I’m up to – would be great to have you on board!
