Well guys, quite a rare thing tonight – no, not the fact that I’m actually not working on a Saturday night (although that in itself is fairly rare), but more so that I’m sitting in on my own tonight typing this. Kids are in bed, wife’s out on a hen night, so yours truly has turned off the TV, got some decent tunes kicking in and trying to put a dent in that thing that is my ever growing “blog posts to do” pile – so, here goes.
So, tonight (or it may well be “today” by the time I publish) I’m very pleased to be sharing some images from Cheryl & Euan’s wedding just after Xmas, which was also to be the first of my two visits to Orocco Pier in the space of a week, and my last wedding of the year. And, would you believe it (well, you probably would), it was yet another wet weather wedding – trust me guys, by the time I next shoot a “dry” wedding, I’ll have forgotten what outdoor photography feels like :-).
After the usual bridal prep shots, we kicked off at the Kirk of Calder Parish Church, a fantastic building dating back to the 1500’s (thank you Google), and it would have been great to do some shots outside but, nothing doing I’m afraid as the rain relegated all our group shots to inside the church. Off then to Orocco Pier at South Queensferry where I’ve shot many times before and (trust me on this), wouldn’t you believe it, we got a lucky break and the rain held off for a short period to enable us to get out and about to do the bride & groom shots, albeit in semi-darkness, but that just adds to the drama :-).

Anyway, Cheryl & Euan, a big thank you for asking me to photograph your wedding day. Here’s some of my favourite images from the day. Fabulous pictures as ever Mike, I love how you’ve captured South Queensferry, so pretty! Kirk of Calder is a stunning wee church! I played there in 2012, solo flute playing Braveheart for the entrance of the bride, perfect setting for such evocative music! Loving the brass band this couple had too, a totally different feel.
Thank you Siobhan. I love South Queensferry…do a lot of pre-wedding shoots there as well. The brass band were brilliant; from recollection, they even played Baggy Trousers!

Cheryl arrived to Highland Cathedral, they had the Euphonium solo “O Holy Night” to sign the register and they both left to the last section of Peter Graham’s “Shine As The Light”.
