Wedding Photography at Anstruther Town Hall ///Jenny & Calum

2017 wedding season kicked off for me a bit later than previous years, as I found myself in the unusual position of not having a wedding to shoot until late into February…just the way it goes sometimes and it’s no bad thing to have a few weeks off to recharge the old batteries and all that :-).

Jenny & Calum’s wedding day took me slightly off the beaten track to where I usually shoot most weddings, although I will actually travel anywhere to shoot a wedding…no distance is too far. So, off I set for Anstruther Town Hall over in Fife, but not without a stop off in the beautiful seaside village of St. Monan’s first of all for some bridal prep shots.

On to Anstruther and the rain that had been hanging around earlier in the day cleared away to leave us with some dramatic cloudy skies…and those of you that follow my work will know by now that I do love a dramatic sky – it really was the perfect backdrop for our bride & groom shoot around the harbour :-). And, as a wee bonus, we even managed to get out for a short while after dinner for a nighttime shoot.

Wedding Photography at Pratis Barns | Katy & Pete

If you had to pull together a list of “dangerous jobs”, being a wedding photographer would, I think it’s fair to say, not be on that list. But, hold that thought for a second as I can tell you for one that it is actually fraught with danger 🙂 and my latest accident at Katy & Pete’s wedding was there for all, and I do mean “ALL”, to see.

Getting set for the large group shot of all the guests, over 100 of them, yours truly slipped on a railway sleeper, flipped sideways and came crashing down to earth side on, injuring myself  and smashing a £500 flashgun in the process – thank goodness for insurance and back-up equipment is all I can say. Still, needs must guys and sometimes, these things happen trying to get “the shot”.

Katy & Pete’s big day back in October was the first time I’d visited Pratis Barns and what a fabulous setting it is. I shoot a lot of weddings in hotels and bespoke private wedding venues, so it’s great every now and then to do something really different – rustic barns, old world charm and surrounding fields as far as the eye can see…gorgeous!

      Fife Portrait Photography:
      Lisa & Howard’s Pre-Wedding Shoot in Aberdour

Back out on pre-wedding shoot duty today with Lisa & Howard, who brought the girls along also, Poppy & Mabel. The guys are getting married at Orrocco Pier in South Queensferry in September and I’m really looking forward to that, as South Queensferry is one of my favourite places to shoot in and around. Funnily enough, South Queensferry is where we kicked off today, although we’re actually bound for Aberdour over in Fife for the shoot.
