Sharon & Steven’s Wedding Album

It’s been a while since I posted up a new album design for you guys, so putting that right today and delighted to be featuring Sharon & Steven’s album from their wedding at Glenbervie House last year.

For me, the wedding album is very much the culmination of everything that I do, and absolutely remains the best way to truly tell the story of the day.

For their album, the guys chose the classic “Original Wedding Book” from my lab, Graphistudio. The album itself was finished in dark green leather with their names & date raised and varnished in light grey. For the box, the guys had a butterfly theme on their day so I suggested that we might like to incorporate this into the design, which you can see below. The design was overlaid onto an ice grey cloud leather box, and then varnished and raised from the surface for a really effective look :-).

Second wedding blogged this week and, strangely (or maybe not, depending on your point of view), it’s yet another wedding up at my local venue, Glenbervie House. I think, in fact I know, that in all the years I’ve been shooting weddings, and it is a few now :-), that I’ve never shot two consecutive weddings at the same venue, until this time, although there was a few days in between the two.

But, here’s the thing, over the course of the next year, on two separate occasions, I’m going to be at the same venue for two separate weddings…two days running – may as well just take a sleeping bag and camp over!

So, what of Sharon & Steven’s big day? Well, let me just say that I often hold a view that the bridal prep often sets the tone for the rest of the day…ahem! Probably the loudest, funniest and certainly one of the best bridal prep sessions that I’ve ever shot…I’ll leave it at that – thank you girls for the very entertaining morning :-).

So, here’s the thing guys, I am absolutely determined to blog each and every wedding from last year and yes, the year always starts off with good intentions and then, what happens, well, weddings happen, and the blogging starts to be pushed to the side a wee bit…so as we’re still in the “fairly” quiet period before this year’s weddings kick in, I’m going all out to blog as much as I can just now.

So back in September, and the second wedding of yet another “double header”, I took the short hop to my local venue, Glenbervie House, for Julie & Gary’s big day. Now I’ve always been fortunate with the weather at Glenbervie and, even with the number of weddings I’ve shot there (which is quite a few), I can’t ever recall being forced indoors due to the rain. Well, I guess all things come to an end at some point and, on this very day, down it came in buckets.

Wedding Photography at Glenbervie House Hotel | Maria & Grant

Wedding no.9 of the year for me was the first of another “double header” weekend of weddings and was also the 200th wedding that I’d shot since I started back in 2008 – boy, that seems a long time ago now! It’s funny if I look back now on some of my early work, just how much my style has evolved over the years – I guess when you start out the inclination is to follow the crowd and do what everyone else is…in other words, the safe option…but I like to think now that my style is quite unique, and that’s really where I want to be :-).

Maria & Grant’s big day took me just a few miles up the road to kick off with, with the ceremony being held in Our Lady & St. Ninian’s Church in Bannockburn, followed by the short trip to my local venue Glenbervie House. Just part day coverage up to the speeches for me this time around and then home to get ready for the next day’s wedding.

“Amazing photos of our lovely granddaughter Laura and Scott her new husband. You captured the day superbly from the behind the scenes photos through the ceremony to the meal and the dancing afterwords. It’s going to be very difficult to chose any one photo to put on our wall as they’re all lovely.”

“Wow, absolutely amazing photographs of Laura & Scott’s fantastic wedding at Glenbervie.”
