To finish my run of four weddings in five days back in July, I headed north once again, this time to the fabulous Castle Menzies in Aberfeldy for Kelly & Callum’s big day. This was to be my first visit here and what a stunning venue it is too, dating all the way back to the sixteenth century.
As usual, my day started a wee bit earlier at the Moness Resort where both the girls and the guys were getting ready. Of course, the bonus of everyone getting ready at the same place is that I can shoot both the bridal prep and a bit of the groom’s prep as well, although with the guys, I just tend to come in at the last minute when waistcoats, jackets and buttonholes are going on…not much hair and make-up needed for the guys usually :-).
Off to Castle Menzies and of course there is that common challenge of shooting the ceremony in a dark room…you don’t want to blast the room with flash as it kills the ambience set out with all the candles but, likewise, you don’t want everything to look too dark, so it’s a subtle balancing act to get it just right…thankfully, I always arrive a good while before the ceremony starts to get things set.
