“Lodge On Loch Lomond” Wedding : Melanie & Jimmy

Back with another fabulous wedding day adventure for you good people and today, I’m taking you back just a few weeks (yep, I’m still fairly up straight with my blogging) when I ventured over to the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, the Lodge on Loch Lomond to be precise, to shoot Melanie & Jimmy’s big day and, lest we not forget, their dog Oakley too (who was so well behaved btw) :-).

Everyone, I believe, deserves a break from working hard at some point, and I’ve just had mine…two weeks in Ibiza to be exact. No no, not clubbing…come on, I’m too old for that!!! But hey guys, I’m back now and raring to go again for the second part of this year and today, I’m delighted to be carrying on with blogging the end of last year’s weddings, this time featuring Michelle & Scott’s big day at the fabulous Lodge on Loch Lomond.

Looking at some of the first images from the day, you wouldn’t think it was December, blessed as we were with some gorgeous morning sunshine and dramatic skies. But you know, things don’t last forever and by the time the ceremony had ended, there was certainly a touch of drizzle in the air to add to the darkening skies. But, you guys who’ve followed me for a while will know that that’s right up my lane…so out we went on to the beach for some dramatic flash lit shots just before it got totally dark.

Wedding Photography at Lodge on Loch Lomond Allyson & Findlay

To say that July was a busy month for me would be an understatement – eight weddings, a pre-wedding shoot and even a commercial shoot..all in the space of three weeks – you know, I needed a holiday after that and, would you believe…I got one…two weeks in Majorca :-).

But, before all that, my last wedding in July was an absolute cracker as I was honoured to be shooting Allyson and Findlay’s big day in Loch Lomond…well, not specifically “in” Loch Lomond, but you get my drift…Luss Parish Church for the ceremony and then along the road to the Lodge on Loch Lomond for the reception….fabulous :-).

Whilst shooting the bridal prep, I always get a good feeling about how the day is going to pan out…and I wasn’t wrong this time either. I always have this theory that if you just go out and have what I call “a bloody good time” on your big day, then your pictures are going to show that and look fabulous and hey, from what I saw at least, everyone did just have that “bloody good time”.

Wedding Photography at the Lodge on Loch Lomond | Ailsa & Craig’s Wedding Album

It’s been a few weeks now since I posted an album design on the old blog, so today I’m very pleased to be featuring one of the latest to leave the studio from Ailsa & Craig’s wedding day at the Lodge on Loch Lomond back in the summer of 2014.

For their album, the guys chose one of Graphistudio’s “Original Wedding Books”  and opted for the popular “crystal glance” cover complete with anthracite grey class leather binding and all coupled off in a matching sleeve for storage. Ailsa & Craig also added in a couple of half sized parent albums that are exact copies of the main album with a hardback cover.

A lot of work goes into the designing and preparation of an album prior to it being sent off for printing. All in, I can easily spend around a day and a half with the selection of the images, the initial design, making any changes the couple want and then finally, what I call my “signature” editing process on all the pictures contained within the album to make them look their absolute best for printing.

Wedding Photography at Lodge on Loch Lomond | Kimberley & Daniel

Wedding no.15 of the year took me back to one of my favourite parts of the country where I’ve shot many weddings now…Loch Lomond, specifically, the Lodge on Loch Lomond for what must be now, let me see, about my fifth wedding there now. Let’s be honest, if you get the weather, and in this country it is a big “if”, the setting is really hard to beat.

So, how happy was I then on Kimberley & Daniel’s big day that the weather totally played ball and gave us some glorious sunshine pretty much all day long, so much so, that we were even able to have an outdoor ceremony :-).

My day started at another venue that I’ve worked at before, Ingliston Country Club, where the girls were getting the bridal prep done in one of the log cabins on site and, after a brief stop to grab a few shots, it was off to Loch Lomond for the rest of the day. At this time of year, when the days are long, I find that it’s actually better to do the bride & groom photo-shoot after dinner, where the sun will be a little lower in the sky and not produce the harsh results that you can sometimes get earlier in the day. Coupled with a little off-camera flash, you an get some quite dramatic results :-).
