Wedding Photography at Oran MorLaura & John

One of these days, I may very well catch up with my blogging, instead of running about 5 months behind…until that day though…

My penultimate wedding in September last year took me back once again to the fabulous Oran Mor in Glasgow for Laura & John’s big day. And, random fact #1, I’ve now shot four Laura & John weddings, making it my most popular couple name…there, I did say it was a “random fact!!

But boy, what about the weather…take a look below people and you see those shots of Laura walking from the car to the venue, yep, that was the only time we got outside that day :-(…totally poured down…just as well the guys hadn’t booked the Botanics for pictures.

Still, Oran Mor is quite the venue and has a few good spots inside for photography, so not to panic and, if I’m being honest, I think it very much suited the mood of the day to keep the bride & groom shoot short and for everyone to, well, just have a grand old time, which they certainly did; I mean, just take a look at the pictures below :-).

      Siobhan & Eoin’s Wedding Album

Great to be sharing yet another album design with you today (yes, it’s been a busy time for our DHL delivery guy with all these albums coming and going), and, this one I’m particularly keen to share with you as it features one of the first time’s that I’ve used the lab’s new enoblement programme…but more of that later.

Siobhan and Eoin were married last August with the ceremony taking place at the impressive University of Glasgow chapel, followed by the short hop to one of my favourite venues, Oran Mor.

For their album, the guys opted for one of Graphistudio’s “Original Wedding Books” with 60 pages and opted for the greenish blue cloud leather cover with the die cut picture insert. For the design box, we took advantage of the aforementioned “enoblement” programme, and recreated the design used on the table names and other “bits & bobs”, that had all been created by Siobhan’s sister, Roisin. This all makes your album totally unique and carries on the theme and style of your wedding day :-)…how fabulous!

Wedding Photography at Oran Mor, Glasgow | Siobhan & Eoin

My 30th wedding of the year was part two of a wedding “double header” weekend and took me back to a couple of “old haunts” (if that’s the right word to use)…namely the University of Glasgow chapel for the ceremony and then onto Oran Mor for the reception – the reason…Siobhan & Eoin’s wedding day :-).

Now, I love my Canon 70-200mm lens – yep, that’s the big white one that gets in really close even when shooting from a distance. And boy do you need it in the chapel at Glasgow Uni, as they have a ruling where us photographers are consigned to a seat half way back down the chapel, although if you have a videographer (as the guys did) you’re in luck, as oddly they are allowed the shoot from up front. So guys, anyone reading this, if you’re getting married here in the future, do check that your photographer is well equiped for the job.

So here’s the thing, and unexpected as it was, the rain that hadn’t stopped at the previoius days wedding and also on the morning of Siobhan & Eoin’s big day, suddenly…stopped! And, even gave way to some sunshine, just in time for the shots in and around the cloisters, which I love so much…happy days!

Wedding Photography at Oran Mor | Gemma & Kyle

Hot on the heels of my safe return from the Isle of Arran, next stop on this year’s wedding whirlwind was one of my favourite venues, and one that I’ve been to many times now, the fabulous Oran Mor, right in the heart of Glasgow’s West End. The reason…Gemma & Kyle’s big day :-).

And here’s a thing…you know you’ve been in business quite a while when, not only the reception venue, but even the church where the ceremony is held is somewhere you’ve been to before…namely, St. Patrick’s in Dumbarton – was last here for Lauren & Fergus’s wedding a couple of years back and, would you believe it…well, you probably would, it poured with rain that day and it poured with rain this one as well :-(.  But, let me tell you, no amount of rain put a dampener on this wedding day…totally fabulous and, we did even manage a quick excursion outside Oran Mor for a few shots later in the day.
