Pre-Wedding Shoot in South Queensferry
Julieann & Greg

Wow, I’ve just realised that it’s been quite some time since I posted any pre-wedding shoot images on the old blog. I guess that is in part due to the fact that I don’t shoot as many pre-weds these days…not since I made it an “add-on” to my wedding collections rather than being included in all of them as it was back in the day!

Julieann & Greg chose to head down to one of my favourite spots for their shoot, South Queensferry to be exact…probably done more pre-weds here than anywhere else down the years and with good reason…fabulous place to shoot. The session actually took place back in August (yes, such is my blogging back log – at least that’ll keep me busy over the winter months when the weddings tail off a wee bit)…the guys are actually married now and I had the honour of shooting their wedding a few weeks ago, so watch out for that being featured on the blog very soon :-).

Pre-Wedding Shoot in South Queensferry | Sarah & David

Yep, that time of year when my blogging starts to fall every so slightly behind so, this week, I’m making a determined effort to get 2 or 3 new posts up and running for you lovely people, kicking off today with this pre-wedding shoot that we did only last week with Sarah & David down in South Queensferry. Haven’t done a pre-wed shoot here for quite a while now, although I was here for a wedding recently.

Great location – a harbour, the famous bridges (including the partly built new road crossing), a beach, quirky cobbled streets and old buildings…just tons of options…in fact, I’m surprised that more couples don’t choose to come here for their shoot – wait and see, I’ll be inundated with requests now :-).

      Wedding Photography at Orocco Pier:
      Melissa & Colin

So as I sit here typing up this blog post, I’m about to enter into the first of my triple headers for this year – yes, that’s three weddings to shoot on three consecutive days, and I have that three times this year…will definitely need a holiday after all those :-). All this makes May my second busiest month of the year – last month was pretty busy too, busy for April anyway and included Melissa & Colin’s fantastic day at Orocco Pier in South Queensferry.

It’s fair to say that I probably find myself in South Queensferry with camera in hand more than any other location – it’s a favourite for couples doing their pre-wedding shoot and, when it comes to weddings, Orocco Pier is fast becoming one of my more popular venues, this being my third wedding here in as many months..and you can see why, with the views over the Forth Bridges and the old town charm of South Queensferry itself with its cobbled streets…love it!

It’s kind of strange but I’ve actually done some photography with Melissa before – a few years back when I was dabbling around in the world of fashion/portrait photography, she came along with her friend Catrina (her bridesmaid on the day) to do some shots around Callander Park – funny how things turn out sometimes.

      Portrait Photography in South Queensferry:
      Michelle & Steven’s Pre-Wedding Shoot

Just starting to hit the busy wedding season and, next up on the wedding front (well, next but one), is Michelle & Steven’s big day at Glenbervie House, which I’m very much looking forward to. So, thought it would be wise to try and get a few images from their pre-wedding shoot up on the blog ahead of that, so here we go.

I spent quite a lot of time in South Quensferry in January, with a couple of weddings at Orocco Pier and now the guys’ pre-wedding shoot here as well. That’s not a complaint by the way; I love doing shoots here – you’ve got the bridges, the pier/harbour, cobbled streets and tons of old world charm, so plenty of options. The only downside is that it is very open with little shelter anywhere, so not the best if it rains. But hey, we didn’t need to worry about that on Michelle & Steven’s shoot as you can see from the images – bit chilly though…but it was January.

      Edinburgh Portrait Photography:
Cheryl & Euan’s Pre-Wedding Shoot in South Queensferry

So folks, feels like a while since I’ve had any pre-wedding shoot images to show you, probably nearly two months ago in fact, but hey, we’re just coming out of the busy wedding season now so I do have an excuse (of sorts). Anyway, time to put that right and today I’m really pleased to feature the shoot that I did with Cheryl & Euan last month down in South Queensferry. South Queensferry is one of my fave places and I’ve probably done more shoots here that pretty much anywhere else and it’s easy to see why, with the iconic bridges, cobbled streets and old world charm – parking’s a nightmare though :-).

I’m often asked by couples if the pre-wedding shoot will help them come the wedding day and my answer is always the same…absolutely “yes”. For starters, most couples will not have been photographed before to the extent that they will be on the wedding day – the pre-wedding shoot gets you used to being in front of the camera and working with me. You can also try out a few different things on the shoot that would not be possible on the wedding day as that’s certainly not the time to experiment. Finally, you’ll get to see a range of images in an online gallery from which you can then let me know those that you like and those that you’re not so keen on, and that’ll be a big plus come the wedding day. And, let’s not forget the signing frame that I’ll bring along with me on the day itself for all your guests to leave their own personal messages.
