My final August wedding took me back once again to The Vu to shoot Carly & Cameron’s big day! Fair to say that, long after I’ve put the cameras down for the last time (whenever that may be), The Vu will always be an important part of my time as a wedding photographer – I’ve shot more weddings there than anywhere else … maybe not so many of late but there was a time when it was like my second home! So I know my way around for sure!
My first stop on the day however was to be the Dakota Hotel in South Queensferry to cover bridal prep – a popular place it would seem for weddings taking place in and around Edinburgh as I’ve been there many a time now to cover the prep shots! Then it was off to the venue under the ever darkening skies – yep, the gloomy forecast for the day appeared to be spot on … but bad weather never spoilt a great wedding now did it … none that I’ve been to anyway!
Typically, I shot the day in my usual documentary “ninja-like” style, breaking away only briefly for a couple of chilled-out super quick couple shoots (one before and one after dinner) plus a handful of group shots and, would you know, we even got a wee bit lucky with rain, the worst of it taking place during dinner, although we did have to duck into the bandstand for the group shots – job done though!
Such a fabulous day and the guys were very kind to send me some very nice words about their experience:
“We loved the photos! The perfect mix that tells the full story of the day. We loved seeing all the photos of our guests and seeing them enjoy themselves while we were caught up. Despite the weather, the photos have turned out better than we ever could have imagined. For two people who aren’t keen on posed photos you put us at complete ease and we actually ended enjoying it. We genuinely never noticed half the pictures being taken and you’ve captured so many natural moments that otherwise might have been missed. We are so glad we picked you to be our photographer.”
Carly & Cameron, it was great to be with you all on your amazing day shooting your wedding photography at The Vu and thank you very much for choosing me! Here’s a few of my own favourite shots which I hope you all like.
Please feel free to leave a comment if you like … it’s very much appreciated 🙂 – there’s a comment box right at the end of the pics!

Looking for The Vu Wedding Photography … or anywhere for that matter?
If you’re getting married (or know someone who is), then you may just like my “ninja style” low key approach to the day! Most couples tell me they didn’t even notice me for the majority of the day and that suits me … it is your wedding day after all, not a photo-shoot!
My style is very unposed, unfussy and focuses more on documenting your day rather than directing it. Minimal group shots (or even none at all if you prefer) and short couple shoots allow you spend more of the day with the people that matter and have a total blast!
