Pre-Wedding Shoot at the Falls of Bruar
Kelly & Callum

Another little road trip back in July found me heading north again for Kelly & Callum’s pre-wedding shoot…only my third pre-wed shoot of the year.

The guys chose the beautiful Falls of Bruar for their shoot, which was to be my first time here, but I’ll certainly be adding it to my list from here on in as it’s a fabulous setting :-).

Such was the timescales that there was literally just over a week between the pre-wedding shoot and the actual wedding itself at Castle Menzies…fabulous day but more of that (and pictures) to follow at a later date :-).

Pre-Wedding Shoot at Callendar Park
Sharon & Steven

My second pre-wedding shoot in as many days took me a bit closer to home, Callendar Park in Falkirk to be exact, for Sharon & Steven’s shoot and, again, we got lucky with some sunny, albeit a touch breezy, conditions.

As a wee bonus, the guys brought along their dog and I say “amen to that” :-). Pre-wedding shoots can be whatever you want them to be…bring your dog, your kids if you have any, your parents to watch over the kids LOL…at the end of the day, it’s whatever makes you comfortable for being in front of the camera. Sure, we’ll do some shots of you guys on your own in preparation for the wedding day but, honestly, anything goes.

    Pre-Wedding Shoot at Aberdour Castle
    Debbie & James

It’s been a while since I did any pre-wedding shoots and then, what do you know, I get to shoot two in two days!

For my first venture out, I was strangely back at the place where I shot my very first wedding back in the day, many years ago, namely, the very picturesque Aberdour Castle over in Fife. And what gorgeous weather we were greeted to for Debbie & James’ shoot. Of course, us photographers are none too keen on bright sunshine, as it does limit where you can shoot – no one wants to be squinting into the sun after all!

So, sunny day challenges aside, this place has a lot going for it – some fabulous grounds, old ruins, some great indoor rooms and, I believe this is the right word, a dovecot which, according to Wikipedia :-), is a building used to house pigeons…must have been a while ago though as there were none to be found during our visit…but it did make an interesting place for an image.

Pre-Wedding Shoot at Beecraigs Country Park ///Stacey & Scott

It’s been a little while since I did a pre-wedding shoot, late last summer I think :-), but last weekend I was out and about at a place where I’ve been a few times now, Beecraigs Country Park, for Stacey & Scott’s shoot. The guys brought their boys along with them so was great to get a few family shots as well as the usual “bride and groom to be” shots.

But, let me tell you guys, it was freezing…”baltic” as they say in these parts! So, hats off to the guys for braving the conditions and, as I said to them at the time, the pictures will look a lot warmer than they felt :-).

Pre-Wedding Shoot in East Lothian | Taryn & Ewan

At the weekend just gone, I was very honoured to be at the Ghillie Dhu in Edinburgh to shoot the wedding of Taryn & Ewan, and what a fabulous day it was :-). But, before all that, one very warm day back in July, I found myself heading over to East Lothian – Seacliff Beach to be exact, for the guys’ pre-wedding legal ceremony.

You know, it’s funny but, when I first moved to Scotland back in 2002, I lived in Dunbar, just a few miles down the road, and never knew this beach existed – it’s totally gorgeous and well worth the £3 you need to pay to access it via the private road. And with Tantallon Castle and the Bass Rock in the background, honestly, when you get the right conditions, there are few better places to be.

Sometimes on a shoot, you just find that everything aligns and this was definitely the case here – a fabulous couple, beautiful location and gorgeous weather :-).
