Well, what a glorious day today as I found myself outside Edinburgh Castle for Fiona & Martyn’s pre-wedding shoot along the Royal Mile…much better than all that rain we’ve had recently. The guys are getting married at The Vu in Bathgate next month and I’m looking forward to photographing their big day. But today was all about the pre-wedding shoot and a chance to get some nice images, one of which they will choose to have mounted up as a signing board on their wedding day, a service which I provide to everyone after the pre-wedding shoot.
I thought we would kick off early (or what I thought was early…10.30am?) in order to avoid the usual hoards on the Royal Mile. How wrong could I be? As I waited for the guys to arrive at the entrance to Edinburgh Castle, I quickly became swarmed by the masses of coach parties waiting to go inside the Castle. Fearing for the safety of my equipment, I hastily retreated to a safer spot.
Once Fiona & Martyn arrived, we headed off to an area behind St. Giles Cathedral to kick things off. I much prefer using some of the less obvious locations off of the Royal Mile, and there are plenty of them to be found, rather than try and compete with the masses. I just love using the dark alleyways, full of history and mystery, and they lend themselves perfectly to some flash-lit photography, which as usual I couldn’t resist.
Guys, thank you for going along with my ideas, and for your own input as well. Here’s some of my fave images…hope you like them as well.
