Wedding Photography at Airth CastleKirsty & Robbie

It definitely was a pretty slow start to the year for me this time around, with only one wedding in January and one wedding in February to shoot. It’s not untypical though, with these months generally being my quietest every year…but come March and that’s a different story altogether!!!

So, for February then, I was kind of on “home turf” up at the fabulous Airth Castle for Kirsty & Robbie’s big day. I’ve lost count of the number of weddings that I’ve shot at Airth now over the years, but it’s a few :-), and I can honestly say that I’ve always come away at the end of the day knowing that it’s been a cracking day, and this was no different!

Wedding Photography at Airth Castle Jolene & Alan

Well, the first week in May was certainly a busy one, with three fabulous weddings to shoot, the last of these being Jolene & Alan’s big day at one of my local, and most visited venues, Airth Castle. And, what do you know, yet another glorious day…clear blues skies all the way…although you guys know that does present a few challenges for us photographers to make sure no one is squinting into the sun!

You’ve got to love Airth Castle…whatever the conditions on the day, there’s always plenty of great spots for photography 🙂 and, lest we forget, the character that is your MC for the day, Hugh, with his entertaining address to the haggis before dinner.

Wedding Photography at Airth Castle ///
      Lynsey & Chris’ Wedding Album

Second blog post of the day and, this time around, I’m delighted to be sharing a new album design from Lynsey & Chris’ wedding at Airth Castle back in September last year.

For their album, the guys chose one of Graphistudio’s “Original Wedding Books”  with 50 pages and opted for the popular “crystal glance” cover with the beautiful grey woven spine. This was all topped off by a complementing design box in grey linen with raised varnish overprinting :-).

A lot of work goes into the designing and preparation of an album prior to it being sent off for printing. All in, I can easily spend around a day and a half with the selection of the images, the initial design, making any changes the couple want and then finally, what I call my “signature” editing process on all the pictures contained within the album to make them look their absolute best for printing.

Wedding Photography at Airth Castle | Lynsey & Chris

My first wedding in September this year was also part.1 of yet another wedding “double header” and took me off to one of my local venues, the fabulous Airth Castle, where I’ve shot many times now, so fair to say I know my way around :-).

One of the things I find that happens a lot now, is couples booking me on the strength of a recommendation from a friend who’s wedding I’ve shot, or they were a guest at a wedding I shot etc etc, as opposed to couples coming across my website by way of advertising – in fact, I’d say referrals count for more than 50% of bookings that I take these days. And, I guess there’s no better way of seeing exactly what a photographer does, not only the pictures, but also the way they conduct themselves on the day as well, than if you know someone that’s been there, done it, got the t-shirt…as they say :-).

In Lynsey & Chris’ case, they were good friends with Sarah & David, who’s wedding I shot at Solsgirth House last year – in fact, Lynsey was one of Sarah’s bridesmaids on the day, so they got to see first hand eactly how I roll :-)…and I like “rolling” discreetly more than anything else.

Wedding Photography at Airth Castle | Gillian & Michael’s Wedding Album

Back in April, I was up the road at one of my local venues, Airth Castle, to shoot Gillian & Michael’s fabulous wedding day. And, a few weeks ago, I was delighted to be delivering their wedding album to them…by the way, if you want to see the blog post from their wedding day, you can find it here.

For their album, the guys chose one of Graphistudio’s “Original Wedding Books”  and opted for a combination that I hadn’t actually done before – a light grey suede cover with picture inset, bound in the very stylish grey woven spine. This was all topped off by a complementing design box in black cloud leather…very nice 🙂
