Ayrshire Wedding Photography:
Sarah & Martin at Lochside House Hotel

It seems quite some time ago that I first met Sarah and Martin and they booked me to shoot their wedding at Lochside – July 2011 according to my records if they’re correct. And, if memory serves me right, Sarah entered one of my very first “Win Your Wedding Photography” competitions, although unfortunately not winning on that occasion, but going on to book me all the same, so thanks as ever guys, very much appreciated. And, so it was that we found ourselves a few weeks ago at Lochside on a bit of a drizzly old day weather wise, but a spot of rain’s never going to spoil a wedding day that’s for sure.

The day kicked off at Sarah & Martin’s house for a few bridal prep shots before heading off to St. Peter’s church for the ceremony. Usually, I’m pretty good at abiding with the rules of the celebrant, be they priests, minsters, registrars or otherwise. But, today, I’m afriad I was slightly naughty, not on purpose of course, you understand. As is fairly usual for church ceremonies, I was advised that I could take as many shots as I wished, provided that I stayed in the one place to the side of the altar, which is fair enough. However, little did I know that my attempt to get a shot of Sarah making her entrance down the aisle (which I thought I would be OK to do before moving out of the way), would be met by a sharp word in my ear from the priest, something along the lines of “that’s not appropriate in here”…oops. So, sorry guys, no entrance shot I’m afraid and a lesson learned for me to assume nothing in future :-(.

My misdemeanor aside, the rest of the ceremony went off without a hitch before we all headed off on the journey down to Lochside. On arrival, we were keen to make the most use of the fantastic grounds at Lochside whilst the rain had eased off so, outside we headed for a few bride & groom shots although sadly it wasn’t too long before down it came again. And this was pretty much it for most of the day…inside, outside when we could and back inside again. But Lochside is such a great venue that there’s no shortage of spots for shots, so no worries.
