Following straight on from my last post, I’m back out again with Lynsey & Brian, this time for their wedding day at the beautiful Dalmeny Park Country House Hotel. I kicked off early today and dropped by at Dalmeny on my way to meet Lynsey for the bridal prep shots. The hotel staff were telling me that they’d had two weddings the previous day and it totally poured down relentlessly ruling out any outdoor photography whatsoever. A look at the skies told me that the same fate might bestow me today, so fingers crossed, as the Dalmeny has some fantastic gardens for photography. One thing I do know, however, is that all chance of an outdoor ceremony has been and gone as the grass is absolutely soaking, and we all know that high heels (for the ladies, not me, of course) and wet grass do not go!
All things said and done, by the time the ceremony comes around, we’ve got bright sunshine and my only concern is where to take the group shots to avoid the harsh shadows, whilst keeping off the grass at the same time, for the aforementioned reason. Today however, everything is running smoothly, such are the benefits of having the whole wedding day at one venue – just allows so much more time for photography without the need to compromise (we even manage to fit in some extra group shots that weren’t on the original list). And, as if to highlight the fact of how the day is running, as soon as we’re done with Lynsey & Brian’s all important bride & groom shots and have moved back inside for the reception, down comes the rain! Perfect timing.
Guys, thank you for choosing me to photograph your wedding day at short notice, really appreciate it. Here’s some of my favourite images from the day. The full set can be found in the online gallery (password required).
