Last wedding of the year for me today and what a way to go out! With Angela & Charles for their big day at The Vu and, honestly, the weather is simply atrocious – I can truthfully say that this is the worst that I’ve ever photographed in – I really feel sorry for the guys. Just look at the images below of guests crossing from Oasis to the Water Lily and you’ll get the gist – I probably don’t need to say any more. I know that we can’t always rely on the weather to play ball, but there’s usually some point in the day where it lets up enough to get outside…but not today. We even have to fore-go the usual iconic shots on the jetty as it’s so wet and windy it would be downright dangerous to step out onto it.
Weather matters aside though, there’s a real intimate feel to today’s proceedings. Some of the usual formalities of a wedding day, such as the speeches by the father of the bride and the groom, have been put to one side; and what really matters, which is the bride & groom celebrating and enjoying their day with family and friends, just shines through for all to see.
Darkness descends early at this time of year, so the short session we have available for Angela & Charles’ bride & groom shots is conducted under dark skies…and, of course, it’s still raining. But I’m very keen to get some shots outside so we look for some spots under cover that we can use and settle on the spots just outside the Water Lily that do offer some cover from the overhanging roof – hats off to the guys for going outside though, as despite the cover, it’s still very cold and windy.
Just part-day coverage for me today, so I leave the guys as they sit down for their meal to enjoy the rest of the day. Angela & Charles, many thanks for booking me to photograph your wedding – here’s a few of my fave images from the day.
