To finish my run of four weddings in five days back in July, I headed north once again, this time to the fabulous Castle Menzies in Aberfeldy for Kelly & Callum’s big day. This was to be my first visit here and what a stunning venue it is too, dating all the way back to the sixteenth century.
As usual, my day started a wee bit earlier at the Moness Resort where both the girls and the guys were getting ready. Of course, the bonus of everyone getting ready at the same place is that I can shoot both the bridal prep and a bit of the groom’s prep as well, although with the guys, I just tend to come in at the last minute when waistcoats, jackets and buttonholes are going on…not much hair and make-up needed for the guys usually :-).
Off to Castle Menzies and of course there is that common challenge of shooting the ceremony in a dark room…you don’t want to blast the room with flash as it kills the ambience set out with all the candles but, likewise, you don’t want everything to look too dark, so it’s a subtle balancing act to get it just right…thankfully, I always arrive a good while before the ceremony starts to get things set.
It was a touch drizzly weather wise which did mean shooting the group shots indoors but, when you have a historic setting such as this, it really is no hardship at all :-). Thankfully, the weather did let up later in the day to allow us outside, where the guys had arranged some owls to be present which provided some good shots as you would expect.
Well, what can I say, what a fabulous day all round…great couple, great crowd and an amazing setting!
Kelly & Callum, thank you very much for choosing me to shoot your big day…here’s a few of my favourite shots from the day which I hope you all like…PS – best viewed on a desktop (click on any thumbnail to view L A R G E!).

Looking for some “Ninja Style” Wedding Photography?
I love shooting weddings and, for the most part, I adopt a “ninja style” low key approach to the day! Most couples tell me they didn’t even notice me for the majority of the day and that suits me…it is your wedding day after all, not a photo-shoot! But, I will always make time for those important family group shots and also, a relaxed bride & groom shoot and here, it’s my aim to provide you with some truly amazing pictures…not just your standard stuff :-).
