Pauline & Ali’s wedding was no.2 of the year for me and, very much like wedding no.1, it was a bit drizzly, cold and blustery…but hey, these things are sent to challenge us :-). The Vu in Bathgate was the location, a venue I’ve shot at many times before and, looking at my upcoming schedule, a venue I will be shooting at many times in the future as well…just as well I like it and the staff are brilliant and, I always find, very accommodating to us photographers.
After a brief stop at Pauline’s parents house in Grangemouth for the detail and bridal prep shots, it was off to The Vu where I met up with Ali and the guys for a few shots pre-ceremony. It was also really nice to receive a number of compliments from family on some of the pre-wedding shoot images that we’d taken a few weeks previous – thanks guys!
Thankfully, come the key bride & groom shots, the weather had cleared up sufficiently for us to venture outside onto the jetty, The Vu’s iconic landmark, and where you simply have to get some shots (although having said that I did fail once in a wedding here when the conditions were simply atrocious). Under darkening skies, out came my trusty speedlights to save the day…although I do love a bit of flash for added drama and, of course, it allows me to do my usual back-lit silhouette shot as well with the added bonus of lighting up the rain.
win a portrait shoot
Pauline & Ali, a massive thank you for asking me to photograph your fantastic wedding day. Here’s some of my favourite images from the day. Please do all leave a comment or two at the bottom of the post as it’s always very much appreciated. And, as a new little extra, each and every one of you who leaves a comment, will be entered into a monthly draw to win a portrait shoot worth £75.
Plus, what would be really fantastic, is a “Like” on my Facebook page as it’s always great to get new people on board and it’ll keep you bang up to date with what I’m up to.
like this wedding? why not check out a few more…
