So hello 2023!!! What, I hear you ask, it’s the end of April just now! True yes, but weddings are slow to kick off just after the New Year. You can hear the proverbial tumbleweed blowing throughout January most years, and February doesn’t fare much better – that said, I did shoot a wedding in February, but the couple preferred not to have it blogged (always your choice guys), so Kara & Mark’s big day mid March effectively became my first “bloggable” wedding of the year, and which I present to you today good people :-).
As with a few weddings that I’ve shot recently, the original date was one of those impacted by the dreaded COVID but, rather than postpone, the guys chose to go ahead with a limited numbers ceremony followed by a few pictures afterwards (such were the restrictions at the time) and then have the big celebration at a later date, and here we are.
I’d not shot too many weddings at Western House before 2020, only one in fact, but since then, the floodgates have really opened and, by the time you read this, I’ll likely have done yet one more! It really is a fabulous venue with plenty of spots for me to “play” with when it comes to the couple shoot which, in March, also provides the opportunity for both daytime and nighttime backdrops … the latter being very much my favourite as I’m sure you know, creature of the night that I am LOL.

Looking for “Documentary” Wedding Photography?
If you’re on the look-out for a wedding photographer (or know someone who is), then you may just like my “ninja style” (a couple’s words, not mine) low key approach to the day! Most couples tell me they didn’t even notice me for the majority of the day and that suits me … it is your wedding day after all, not a photo-shoot!
My style is very unposed, unfussy and focuses more on documenting your day rather than directing it. Minimal group shots (or even none at all if you prefer) and short couple shoots allow you spend more of the day with the people that matter and have a total blast!
I’m mainly taking bookings now for 2024 & 2025 but do still have some limited availability for this year too … but I do now only shoot one wedding per weekend so dates can be very limited during peak times.
