“Auchen Castle” Wedding : Laura & Thijs

OK, I’m back – after a couple of weeks off including an Easter weekend football trip to the Netherlands, time to go again and, as I’m about to blast into peak wedding season for this year, how about I share with you my very last wedding of last year when I spent a fabulous day with Laura & Thijs at a beautifully wintery Auchen Castle. This was my first visit to the venue and I certainly hope it isn’t the last – such a gorgeous venue, especially with all that snow :-). Chilly though LOL.

Talking about my football trip to the Netherlands, it’s somewhat timely then to be featuring this wedding, as that’s where Laura and Thijs now live, and with quite a few of their family and friends coming over too, it certainly provided a cosmpolitan flavour to the day … and what a fabulous day it was!

There’s sometimes a misconception with the way I shoot a wedding. Yes, I am primarily a “documentary” wedding photographer, meaning I’ll shoot the majority of the day just as it happens. But that certainly doesn’t mean that we won’t make time for some family group shots and couple shoots, with the latter focusing very much on a natural but artistic/dramatic look 🙂 – “shots to put on the wall” I call them LOL. But I don’t take long with the “set up” shots, so it’s about 90% documentary and 10% set-up, or thereabouts – perfect for couples looking to spend the majority of their day with their nearest and dearest, with just a sprinkling of something else!

OK … enough waffle from me … on with the pictures …

Laura & Thijs, thank you very much for choosing me to shoot your amazing wedding day and for venturing outside in the cold! Here’s a few of my own favourite shots which I hope you all like. But please do let me know what you think – there’s a space for comments below the pictures :-).

Looking for “Documentary” Wedding Photography?

If you’re on the look-out for a wedding photographer (or know someone who is), then you may just like my “ninja style” (a couple’s words, not mine) low key approach to the day! Most couples tell me they didn’t even notice me for the majority of the day and that suits me … it is your wedding day after all, not a photo-shoot!

My style is very unposed, unfussy and focuses more on documenting your day rather than directing it. Minimal group shots (or even none at all if you prefer) and short couple shoots allow you spend more of the day with the people that matter and have a total blast!

I’m mainly taking bookings now for 2024 & 2025 but do still have some limited availability for this year too … but I do now only shoot one wedding per weekend so dates can be very limited during peak times.
