Wedding Photography at The VuNicole & Alan

End of August through September last year was certainly a busy time for me, with around 15 weddings, 3 pre-wedding shoots and all the editing that goes along with it as well, which often takes longer than the shoot itself! Plus, I finally came to the realisation that I probably needed glasses for reading…your arm is only so long when trying to focus on the small text on your iPhone :-).

My first wedding in September (and also the first of another wedding “double header”) took me back once again to The Vu, where I’ve shot more weddings than anywhere else, and there’s always that knowing nod from the staff as you arrive…that’s when you know you’ve almost become part of the furniture.

Nicole & Alan’s big day was blessed with some fabulous weather, as it can often be pretty windy at The Vu, being on such high ground…but no such problems this day…just check out those fabulous blue skies with scattered cloud (my favourite) and also the gorgeous sunset…perfectly timed for just after dinner finished!

Wedding Photography at The Vu Chloe & Kyle

Back at the end of May, I was out on my fifth visit of the year to The Vu, where I’ve probably shot more weddings than anywhere else over the nine years that I’ve been doing this thing called wedding photography, so fair to say I know the place pretty well by now :-). The reason…Chloe & Kyle’s big day :-).

Part of my planning for any wedding is to keep one eye on what the weather’s likely to be doing come the day as, although I’ll always have a plan B in case of rain, some venues, The Vu being one of them, do rely more on being outside than in. So folks, it was with a certain air of trepidation that I set off in the morning with a touch of drizzle in the air albeit thankfully, this had eased by the time we headed down on to the jetty for our bride & groom shoot post ceremony.

Wedding Photography at The VuClaire & John

For my fourth wedding of the year, I was back at The Vu last month for the second time this year, this time around for Claire & John’s big day :-).

We all hope for reasonably good weather on the big day…picture some sunshine, a calm day, warm(ish) or as warm as it can be in March. But what happens when you don’t get that? Well, in Claire & John’s case, you just roll with the punches!

Cue some typically Scottish wind and rain and a bit of a chill and you’ve got that perfect mix that usually sends most couples scampering indoors for the whole day…but not these guys! They braved the conditions and were determined to get outside for some shots on the jetty…music to my ears, as you know guys I do love a “moody” sky every now and then!

Wedding Photography at The Vu ///Holly & Chris

Wedding no.2 of the year for Holly & Chris’ big day found me back at the venue where I’ve probably shot more weddings than any other, The Vu. Last year was strange as I actually only shot one wedding there and I usually average about 5 or 6, but this year normal service is resumed and, come the year end, I will have made 6 visits…but still a very small number of dates available this year so, who knows, that number may increase :-).

February is, let’s be honest, not noted for fabulous weather and the way the day started with grey skies and a strong blustery wind, nobody would have predicted that the day would end with sunshine and, to cap it all, one fabulous red sky sunset and, fair play to the guys for braving the freezing conditions at that time of day to get outside for a few minutes to get the shots…and you guys all know that I do love a night time shot or two :-).

Fabulous day all round and here’s to plenty more fantastic days at The Vu this year!

Wedding Photography at The Vu | Kelly & Aaran’s Wedding Album

And so another album recently went on it’s way to another fantastic couple…and, another wedding at The Vu…I did mention that the The Vu is my most popular venue – eight weddings alone there last year and loads more up and coming as well…one of my photographer colleagues did once dub me “The Vu King”, and I guess I can see why!

Kelly & Aaran were married back in September last year and, for their album, the guys chose Graphistudio’s Original Wedding Album and opted for the very eye catching brushed metallic covers complete with a smoke grey leather back and spine. This was all topped off with a cloud leather smoke grey and black design box for storage.
