Wedding Photography at Dunblane Hydro | Madeleine & Chris

The second of my pre Christmas wedding “double header” took me back to Dunblane Hydro for Madeleine & Chris’s big day. This was also my 63rd and final wedding of the year…this year, I’m definitely cutting back…63 weddings, all shot on my own, was a lot, even in my book! That said, I do take that as a compliment that so many couples want to book me…actually, a lot more than 63 did – more like 100+ if I include those that I had to turn away having already been booked on their date :-(.

Rain on the day dictated that we kept to a short bride & groom session after the meal had finished…in the dark and in the rain…but you guys know that I love that kind of stuff…just check out my wedding portfolio! Of course, I never hope that it rains on a wedding day but, if it does, I have a few tricks up my sleeve :-).

    Wedding Photographer Stirlingshire:
    Aimee & Joff’s Wedding Album

I have another wedding album design to share with you today guys. This time, it’s from Aimee & Joff’s wedding at the fabulous Dunblane Hydro at the back end of last summer. The guys already have the album safe in their hands but, as usual, I like to share the design with you just so you can see the variety of the albums that I design and also to get a feel for the imagery across a full wedding day.

Aimee & Joff at Dunblane Hydro

So, you know how it is guys; sometimes, I get booked up by couples well in advance, a couple of years, sometimes three, once even four. And then, other times, I get a fairly late in the day booking when you’re not expecting it, such was the case with Aimee & Joff, just a couple of months notice I seem to recall and with a lot of that initially being done by phone call/email. But, the thing is, I’m so so glad the guys booked me as this was one fantastic day all round.

The wedding took place at the end of August so I know I must be catching up with my backlog of work being that I’m able to post to the blog within the month of that day :-). Give me another 10 days and I’ll be right up straight again! Dunblane Hydro was the venue for the day, where I’ve shot a few times before and, as usual, I kicked off spending some time with Aimee and the girls shooting the bridal prep and detail shots. Sometimes it can be a challenge to find a good spot to do the formal shots of the girls pre-ceremony, as I’m conscious we can’t go wandering too far for fear of bumping into the groom, and the room they had been given to get ready in was a bit on the small side. So, out into the corridor we went, using just a window light behind me, and I don’t think they turned out too bad, although I’ll let you be the best judge of that.

        Stirlingshire Wedding Photography:
Fiona & Andrew at Dunblane Hydro

Weddings coming thick and fast at the moment and a double header this weekend. Off tomorrow to Balbernie House in Fife but today I’m slightly closer to home in and around Stirlingshire for Fiona & Andrew’s big day. The guys live in Hong Kong so we’ve only met just the once before when they initially booked with me last year. But that’s no problem – in fact, I have done a couple of weddings where I’ve never met the couple until the day itself – so, how do I recognise them you may ask; well, the wedding dress is often a bit of a giveaway :-).

So, to today, and I kick off in Callander, and I think everything’s going to plan as I drive across with plenty of time to spare – oh how wrong can you be sometimes. Just about to head on to the main road into Callander and a police car spins abruptly right in front of me and block the road. Imagine my trepidation as the boys in blue step out of their car and start walking towards me – unpaid car tax? Bald tyres? Am I am fugitive on the run? Perhaps I’ve committed crimes against wedding photography! “Sorry sir, there’s been a bad accident up ahead and the road is closed”. My immediate relief was tempered by the need to seek out a new route, but I guess that’s what satnav’s were invented for right? I arrive about 15 mins later than planned and slightly less calm than I had been half an hour ago.
