Second wedding in as many days today and really clocking up the miles as I’m heading over to Troon to meet up with Karen for her wedding to Will. The Lochgreen House Hotel is my destination for the detail shots and a few bridal shots before I head off for the ceremony which is taking place at St. Mary’s Church in Greenock, before coming back again to Lochgreen for the reception. Of course, being a wedding photographer means that travelling a distance is pretty much par for the course, and lest we forget that the internet has ensured that these days, I can pretty much be asked to photograph a wedding anywhere and not just local as in days gone by. So, with plenty of good driving tunes set up on the iPod, off I go.
There’s a touch of rain in the air as I first arrive at Lochgreen but the forecast looked favourable so I’m hoping it picks up. Lochgreen is a fantastic venue and one that I’ve not photographed a wedding at before – loving the open fireplace in the main reception – I can see that’ll come in handy later when I’m on my break! Brief stop for detail shots and it’s off up the road to Greenock for the ceremony, spectacularly accompanied by the Strathclyde Harmonia Choir, schooled by none other than Will himself. As Neil Diamond would have put it “what a beautiful noise” – took me back to my school days in the choir and, some say, my voice has never been the same since :-).
