So a funny thing happened back in May – for the first time in nearly 400 weddings, I shot three consecutive weddings at the very same venue, namely, Airth Castle. Stranger also, in that I have no affiliation with any specific venues (it’s a personal thing!) so it’s not even as though it’s a venue I shoot at a lot – just funny how the world turns sometimes, I guess :-).
Anyway folks, the very first of these three weddings saw me with Debbie & David on their big day. Unusually, although not totally uncommon these days, I’d not met with the guys prior to the wedding but, for my particular style of wedding day photography, which is primarily photo-journalistic, that’s never a problem.
I do sometimes get asked what wedding photo-journalism actually is and I guess, in a nutshell, it’s a very much hands-off approach to shooting the day. I’m looking for real moments, rather than fabricating ones. Real emotions, the fun, the quirky…even the sad (yep, that sometimes happens too) – these are the real things that happen on the day, and the things you’ll remember your day by when you look back at the pictures. Do I shoot family group shots? Sure, but not many (often single figures – I’ve never seen a bride & groom “enjoy” standing in the middle of over an hours worth of group shots!) Do I do a “bride & groom shoot”? Again, yes, but very short…and I try and make it look candid…so no false smiling at the camera guys :-). After all, as it says all over my website – it’s your wedding day, not a photo-shoot!
Debbie & David, thank you very much for choosing me to shoot your fabulous day. Here’s a few of my favourite shots which I hope you all like…PS – best viewed on a desktop.

Looking for some “Ninja Style” Wedding Photography?
I love shooting weddings and, for the most part, I adopt a “ninja style” low key approach to the day! Most couples tell me they didn’t even notice me for the majority of the day and that suits me…it is your wedding day after all, not a photo-shoot! But, I will always make time for a very small number of family group shots and also, a relaxed bride & groom shoot and here, it’s my aim to provide you with some truly amazing pictures…not just your standard stuff :-). I’m mainly taking bookings now for 2021…but I do have a limited number of 2020 dates still available too.
Full day coverage collections start at £1500…but don’t forget my cheeky wee discount where you can save up to £500 :-).
Mike :-).
