“Barnbougle Castle” Wedding : Carol & Steven

Back in May last year, I blogged the first of my 2023 weddings; fast forward nine months and here I am blogging Carol & Steven’s big day, my very last wedding of the 2023 season and yes, by and large, I did manage to keep relatively up to date with them all! Save for a handful of couples that preferred not to be blogged (always your decision guys which I respect), that’s every single one now done, dusted and blogged … and what a fabulous year it was, ending the year as Scotland’s top ranked wedding photojournalist with the WPJA for the second year running – thank you guys!

Barnbougle Castle was yet another new venue for me (I had a few last year which is always a good thing), tucked away as it is in South Queensferry – who knew, eh? Been to South Queensferry many a time but never seen it before but boy, what a fabulous venue – certainly hope I get to come back again!

With no bridal prep shots required, my timeline for the day shifted to a later start and therefore a later finish so that I could capture the fireworks that the guys had laid on. So I kicked off then at the venue itself with a few shots of Steven and the guys meeting and greeting guests before Carol arrived for the ceremony. With a 3.30pm ceremony in mid December, naturally it was always going to be dark by the time the ceremony had finished but we hot footed outside anyway for a few quick shots in the semi-darkness (aided by my lights, naturally) before heading back inside so that I could capture the rest of the day in my usual documentary style, although I did convince the guys to head outside later on for a few nighttime shots once the venue had been lit up in “Christmassy red”.

What a fabulous day and, as usual, I’ll leave the pictures to tell the story. On to 2024!

Carol & Steven, thank you very much for choosing me to shoot your brilliant wedding day! Here’s a few of my own favourite shots which I hope you all like.

Please do leave a comment though … it’s very much appreciated 🙂 – there’s a comment box right at the end of the pics!

Scotland’s Top Ranked Wedding Photojournalist

If you’re on the look-out for a wedding photographer (or know someone who is), then you may just like my “ninja style” (a couple’s words, not mine) low key approach to the day! Most couples tell me they didn’t even notice me for the majority of the day and that suits me … it is your wedding day after all, not a photo-shoot!

My style is very unposed, unfussy and focuses more on documenting your day rather than directing it. Minimal group shots (or even none at all if you prefer) and short couple shoots allow you spend more of the day with the people that matter and have a total blast!

For the second year running, I’ve been recognised as Scotland’s No.1 ranked photographer with the WPJA (both photojournalism and artistic categories), UK Top 10 and World Top 50.

Not sure if this is for you? This should help you decide.

I’m mainly taking bookings now for 2025 & 2026 but do still have some limited availability for this year too … but I do now only shoot one wedding per weekend so dates can be very limited during peak times.

Would love to hear from you!
