“Carlowrie Castle” Wedding : Vicky & Alan

For my penultimate wedding of last year, and the second day of my second back-to-back wedding “double header” weekends (work that one out LOL), I was back for the first time in a wee while at the fabulous Carlowrie Castle (and I really do mean “fabulous”), this time for Vicky & Alan’s big day just before Xmas :-).

Over the years, my photography style has very much moved away from the traditional lots of group shots/lots of posing concept, to a much more candid “fly on the wall” approach, with the notion of capturing real moments rather than fabricated ones, letting couples enjoy the day rather than feeling they’ve been in a photo-shoot for the majority – it’s horses for courses naturally, and not every couple wants this approach. Of course, there’s still a place for a few group shots and a quick “couple shoot” but I’d say that Vicky & Alan’s day was probably the closest I’ve ever come to shooting an out and out documentary wedding, with just a handful of group shots and a really quick 5 minute couple shoot after dinner. Everything else, as you see it, was candid!

One of these days, my aim is to shoot a pure documentary wedding – zero group shots, zero “posed” couple shots … just the day as it happened, warts & all LOL. Until then though …enough waffle … on with the pictures …

Vicky & Alan, thank you very much for choosing me to shoot your wedding day! Here’s a few of my favourite shots which I hope you all like.

Looking for “Reportage” Wedding Photography?

If you’re on the look-out for a wedding photographer (or know someone who is), then you may just like my “ninja style” (a couple’s words, not mine) low key approach to the day! Most couples tell me they didn’t even notice me for the majority of the day and that suits me…it is your wedding day after all, not a photo-shoot!

My style is very unposed, unfussy and focuses more on documenting your day rather than directing it. Minimal group shots (or even none at all if you prefer) and short bride & groom shoots allow you spend more of the day with the people that matter and have a total blast!

I’m mainly taking bookings now for 2023 and 2024 … but I do now only shoot one wedding per weekend so dates can be very limited during peak times.

Full day coverage collections start at £1800 … but don’t forget my cheeky wee discount where you can save up to £500 :-).

Oh, and please do feel free to leave a comment at the bottom of the page, as I do really love to know what you think :-).

Mike :-).
