So, good people, after a few weeks off (you know, school holidays and all that), I’m back with more from the blog and today I’m delighted to have finally got round to posting this year’s weddings and, for me, that all kicked off back in February with a “double header” no less – yep, the fallout from COVID was still with us with a fair sprinkling of this year’s weddings being postponements from previous years. But hey, it does feel like the first normal year since 2019 so no complaints from me :-).
Where better to start then than with a trip to the capital to shoot Emma & Stuart’s big day at one of my favourite venues, the Ghillie Dhu. And, as a wee bonus, we also had access to the nearby private gardens in Rutland Square :-). And, yes another “and”, the weather played ball too … chilly (as you’d expect for Feb) but sunny!!!
Now, let me tell you guys, I’ve broken a few cameras and flashes over the years and this day was yet another one where one of my Canon’s bit the dust! Picture the scene – I’ve just exited the nearby Waldorf Astoria where Emma and the girls were getting ready, walking backwards (always dangerous) taking shots of the girls walking across the street and then it happened – caught my ankle on the edge of the kerb, flipped backwards and, despite my best efforts to stay upright, landed on my backside smashing one of my cameras in the process :-(. Thankfully, I always have two cameras with me on the day (plus a third in the car), but a £300 repair bill is still hard to swallow, espcailly when it’s of your own doing!!!
Anyway, no more tales of woe … on with the pictures to tell the story of the day …
Emma & Stuart, thank you very much for choosing me to shoot your wedding day! Here’s a few of my favourite shots which I hope you all like.
Looking for “Documentary” Wedding Photography?
If you’re on the look-out for a wedding photographer (or know someone who is), then you may just like my “ninja style” (a couple’s words, not mine) low key approach to the day! Most couples tell me they didn’t even notice me for the majority of the day and that suits me … it is your wedding day after all, not a photo-shoot!
My style is very unposed, unfussy and focuses more on documenting your day rather than directing it. Minimal group shots (or even none at all if you prefer) and short bride & groom shoots allow you spend more of the day with the people that matter and have a total blast!
I’m mainly taking bookings now for 2023 and 2024 … but I do now only shoot one wedding per weekend so dates can be very limited during peak times.
Full day coverage collections start at £1800 … but don’t forget my cheeky wee discount where you can save up to £500 :-).
Oh, and please do feel free to leave a comment at the bottom of the page, as I do really love to know what you think :-).
Mike :-).
