“Hilton North Queensferry” Wedding / Sharifa & Ollie

Hey guys, I’m back – yep, after a short hiatus at the start of the year (which is often a pretty quiet time wedding wise), I’m delighted muchly to be featuring my first wedding of the year when a few weeks ago, I was back at the Hilton North Queensferry once again, this time to shoot Sharifa & Ollie’s big day – 2025 is off and running for sure!

And boy did we luck out with the weather – in the midst of what seemed like wall to wall days of rain, we were blessed with glorious sunshine for the whole day … albeit a bit chilly and breezy – but beggars can’t be choosers and all that!

As usual, I shot the majority of the day in my storytelling, candid style, breaking away only briefy for a few family group shots followed by a short hop down into North Queensferry itself for a super quick couple shoot with the iconic bridges as the backdrop. Oh, and a few backlit nighttime shots after dinner too – couldn’t let the day pass without what I’ve been told by couples are my “signature” shots … or so it seems – probably true though!

And, hold the front page won’t you, the guys were kind enough to share a few thoughts of their own about their day …

“Ollie and I have been together for 15 years and engaged for 7. Getting married wasn’t something that we felt an urge to do however as time passed we felt it was an amazing opportunity to get our friends and family together and take a moment to celebrate. We have two young children 5 and 3 and it was just as important that the day was about them. While working through the planning process we wanted to make sure the day kept some fun and silly elements that had meaning to us as a couple and also as a family.

I initially came across Mike’s work and was particularly drawn to the colour, emotion and content of his images, where moments shared were as important as the individuals. For us it was important that the photography captured a moment in time. Mike’s style artistically and also his approach to doing the work was a good match for as we didn’t want the photography to be an intrusive part of the day. On the day of our wedding on Mike’s arrival he immediately puts you at ease. He has a lovely manner which is a delight to be around and made any staged shots easy to get through and enjoyable. We are so happy with the end result and will enjoy the photos for years to come and hopefully they’ll be fun for our kids to look at when they’re older.”

Thanks you guys for those very kind words!

Sharifa & Ollie, it was great to be with you all on your big day and thank you very much for choosing me for your wedding photography at the Hilton North Queensferry! Here’s a few of my own favourite shots which I hope you all like.

Looking for Hilton North Queensferry Wedding Photography … or anywhere for that matter?

If you’re getting married (or know someone who is), then you may just like my “ninja style” (a couple’s words, not mine) low key approach to the day! Most couples tell me they didn’t even notice me for the majority of the day and that suits me … it is your wedding day after all, not a photo-shoot!

My style is very unposed, unfussy and focuses more on documenting your day rather than directing it. Minimal group shots (or even none at all if you prefer) and short couple shoots allow you spend more of the day with the people that matter and have a total blast! Find out more here about the way I work.

For the past three years, I’ve been recognised by the WPJA as Scotland’s top ranked wedding photojournalist, so you know you’re in safe hands :-).

I’m mainly taking bookings now for 2026 & 2027 but do still have some limited availability for this year too … but I do now only shoot one wedding per weekend so dates can be very limited during peak times. So do get in touch asap guys to check my availability.
