“Lochside House” Wedding / Effy & James

I’ve always felt that the way I shoot weddings in a more “hands-off” documentary style attracts, primarily anyway, two types of couples – the quieter more reserved type who dread the thought of posing for formal pictures and then, on the other hand, there’s the couples who just want to party and where posed pictures, well, they’re kind of just a distraction right! Well, Effy & James’ big day at the fabulous Lochside House definitely fell into the latter … and what a day it was!

For sure, we did spend a miniscule amount of time rattling off a few group shots and one or two couple shots but, that aside, it was full on party mode from minute one and, I dare say, carried right on into the wee small hours long after I left too. Honestly, so many amazing moments to shoot from start to finish I even had trouble narrowing down the ones for this post.

Trust me, this really was a day where the pictures tell the story way better than any waffle from me. Just before that though, here’s some incredibly kind words that I recently received from the guys:

“Mike is fantastic, I forgot he was there at the end … (sorry please don’t take offence) and when I received my photo album back I was so pleased to see so many pictures and moments that I thought he missed! He captured so many of my guests having fun, interacting and enjoying themselves which was so good to see as I hate the idea of posed photos. I love the fact each photograph he has taken tells a story!

Thank you so much again. Xx”

Effy & James, it was great to be with you all on your amazing day shooting your wedding photography at Lochside House and thank you very much for choosing me! Here’s a few of my own favourite shots which I hope you all like.

Please feel free to leave a comment if you like … it’s very much appreciated 🙂 – there’s a comment box right at the end of the pics!

Looking for Lochside House Wedding Photography … or anywhere for that matter?

If you’re getting married (or know someone who is), then you may just like my “ninja style” low key approach to the day! Most couples tell me they didn’t even notice me for the majority of the day and that suits me … it is your wedding day after all, not a photo-shoot!

My style is very unposed, unfussy and focuses more on documenting your day rather than directing it. Minimal group shots (or even none at all if you prefer) and short couple shoots allow you spend more of the day with the people that matter and have a total blast! Find out more here about the way I work.

World Top 10 Photographer

For the past four years, I’ve been recognised by the WPJA as Scotland’s top ranked wedding photojournalist, so you know you’re in safe hands. And, in 2024, I was very honoured to be ranked as one of the Top 10 Photographers in the World in their Artistic Guild category … thank you guys!

I’m now taking bookings for 2027 & 2028 but, these days, I do only shoot around 20 weddings per year so dates can be very limited especially during the summer months. So do get in touch asap guys to check my availability.
