OK, so really getting back into the swing of things now and today I have some more wedding photography for you – this time, it’s Natalie & Scott’s wedding in Stirling from the end of last month. I recall it was a blazing hot day, right in the middle of that warm spell of weather we had – remember that? No, neither do I! Anyway, I digress. I kicked off at Natalie & Scott’s home quite close to where I live myself, for the bridal prep and detail shots. Sometimes, the room where the hair and make-up is being done can be a bit cluttered with stuff (all relevant though of course). That said, I sometimes like “clean” shots so I just got on my knees, brought the side of the fridge into frame and shot the ones you see below – almost looks like they were done in a studio :-).
The ceremony was held at St. Ninian’s Church in Stirling, somewhere I’ve never shot before but passed many many times driving into Stirling. I’m always pleased (and a bit relieved – see my last post) when the inside of the church is light and airy, as I’m often not allowed to use flash, but today I had no problems whatsoever. I always smile to myself a wee bit when I edit the images from the ceremony especially if I’ve caught the reactions and emotions of that part of the day. Sometimes, I can’t recall what made the groom laugh or the bride look amazed, but what I do know is that it will provide a talking point for the couple as they recall the events of the day through the images, and that can’t be a bad thing.
We’d arranged for a quick stop off at the Stirling University grounds for the key bride & groom shots. I’ve shot there a few times before and the grounds are beautiful for photography. I realise exactly how warm it is when I set off on my obligatory hike round the opposite side of the lake for my stock shot – boy did I need a quick breather when I got back round, or maybe what I really need is to hit the gym – latter probably more likely!
We ended the day with the reception at The Royal Hotel, Bridge of Allan and a cascade of balloons being dropped from the ceiling during the first dance. Good job I could see what was coming as I quickly refocused and managed to get one shot off before they all hit the ground.
