Seems to have been a trend of mine lately to kick off a new week with a new blog post, so let’s keep that going – ’tis the season for tradition after all! So, back at the end of August then, I was down at The Vu, where I’ve probably shot as many weddings as I’ve had hot dinners (almost), although strangely not too many times of late, just a couple this year – I think eight in one year was my record turnout!
Katie & Dean’s big day was pretty much bang on with the way that I shoot a wedding these days … about 90% candid with just a small amount of time devoted to a short couple shoot followed by a handful of group shots – probably 30 mins all in and we were done, leaving plenty of time for the guys to enjoy the party!
Honestly, some of these candid shots are definitely some of my favourites from the whole year … just seemed to be so much going on and plenty to shoot – I guess that’s the beauty of adopting a candid storytelling approach to the day though; if I spent lots of time setting up intricately posed shots on a hour long photo-shoot, then I wouldn’t be around to capture all these “real” moments, and all the better for it I say. What a brilliant day it was!

Need A Ninja?
If you’re on the look-out for a wedding photographer (or know someone who is), then you may just like my “ninja style” (a couple’s words, not mine) low key approach to the day! Most couples tell me they didn’t even notice me for the majority of the day and that suits me … it is your wedding day after all, not a photo-shoot!
My style is very unposed, unfussy and focuses more on documenting your day rather than directing it. Minimal group shots (or even none at all if you prefer) and short couple shoots allow you spend more of the day with the people that matter and have a total blast!

I’m mainly taking bookings now for 2025 & 2026 but do still have some limited availability for 2024 too … but I do now only shoot one wedding per weekend so dates can be very limited during peak times.
