Back with a bang on the blog today and, this time around, I’ve got a cracker for you guys from back in March when, for part two of my wedding “double header” weekend, I ventured into Edinburgh to shoot Lynsey & Matthew’s big day at the fabulous Ghille Dhu.
Wow, September last was definitely a busy month for me, my busiest of the year in fact, with no less than nine weddings to shoot, but boy were there some fabulous ones in there, kicking off with the first part of a “double header” weekend at the start of the month with Megan and Jamie in Edinburgh.
So guys, for those of you that follow my blog regularly (you know who you are LOL), you might recall that last time out I was musing over just how changeable the weather can be in March, and bemoaning the bad luck we had with wet (and cold) weather last time out – well, roll on less than a week and how things changed up for Kelly & Simon’s big day at Eskmills Venue – a glorious spring like day no less!!!
For anyone that read my last wedding post on here (you know who you are :-)), you’ll know that Christmas definitely wasn’t a quiet time for me, and Chloe & Liam’s big day at Arta was to be the first of three weddings that I shot in the space of four days between Christmas & New Year – wow, so many numbers!
More fabulous wedding stuff for you today folks and, this one I am delighted to be sharing with you…Gemma & Edward’s big day at The Caves, Edinburgh from last November.
So here’s the thing, shooting at The Caves is one of those tricky balancing acts. It’s dark and very atmospheric – just take a look at the shots below. So, you want to keep that atmosphere in the shots but, at the same time, not provide too much of your own lighting that it lights up the place like a nuclear explosion!!! So, the order of the day is very much one of using the low light capabilities of my cameras but just adding a wee blip of my own flash light to separate the guys from the background. It’s definitely not a place for the novice shooter to cut his or her teeth :-). But I just love it…
