“The Cruin” Wedding : Alexis & Iain

Every year, there’s always one wedding that I can look back on and consider that very day to be the one where summer ended, at least for me as far as weddings go. That day where it was still warm and sunny enough to go out after dinner without a jacket, or the like. That day where there was still light in the sky into the early evening. That very day last year was the fabulous day I spent with Alexis & Iain back in September at one of my favourite venues, The Cruin, on Loch Lomond. Hold the back page … we even got an outdoor ceremony!!!

“The Cruin” Wedding : Ashleigh & Thomas

Mid June, I was back at one of my favourite venues, the fabulous Cruin, on the banks of Loch Lomond, where I was honoured to be shooting Ashleigh & Thomas’ big day :-). I’m a big fan of all the Loch Lomond venues in truth but the guys at The Cruin always make sure I’m well fed, so it’s a winner for me LOL…oh, and there’s the views of course too!

Wedding Photography at The Cruin : Sonia & David

Oh man, The Cruin… I just love it there…one of my favourite venues. So guess how delighted I was to be shooting there again in the last days of last summer…yep, you could feel that wee chill in the air as the sun went down with autumn just around the corner. Set on the banks of Loch Lomond, it’s a truly spectacular setting for a wedding day and what glorious weather we were blessed with too…although even in the rain and murk I still think it looks great…very atmospheric and mysterious, if that’s the right word to use!

I’d not actually met Sonia & David until the day itself but that’s never been a problem before, and certainly wasn’t this time around either, as I quickly settled in to things with the bridal prep shots and, as everyone was getting ready in the grounds of The Cruin, a few quick shots with the guys as well…always a bonus :-).

No wedding at The Cruin, is complete without some shots on the (very long) jetty – get’s more bouncy the further out you go :-). But boy…that backdrop…plus blue skies and clouds…just perfect conditions. And let’s not forget the glorious early evening skies as well as we ventured out after dinner for a few final shots before the evening part kicked off.

Wedding Photography at The CruinAmy & David

Very soon folks, I kid you not, I will actually be blogging a wedding that took place in the same year as the actual post…until that day though, I’m continuing with my (seemingly futile) attempt to bring things more up to date. Back in December, yes I know, “DECEMBER” :-(, my run of weddings continued with another trip round to Loch Lomond, The Cruin to be exact, for Amy & David’s big day.

I’d shot Amy’s sister Ailsa’s wedding a few years previous, so it was great to see a few familiar faces on the day itself. But boy those weather gods certainly weren’t on our side! December weddings are never going to be warm…I should know as I got married in December myself. But throw in the strong gusty wind as well and that chill factor was probably the coldest I’d experienced in a long time…could barely hold the camera! And let us not forget the rain as well that punctuated most of the day…check out the shots of the guests arriving for the ceremony at St. Mahew’s!

        Jill & Johnathan’s Wedding Album

Today, I’m delighted to be sharing a new album design with you guys featuring Jill & Johnathan’s wedding at The Cruin back in 2015. Although over a year ago now, that day still sticks in my mind as one of those classic “all weathers” Loch Lomond days…cloud, rain, sunshine & showers…yep, we had it all!

For their album, the guys chose one of Graphistudio’s “Original Wedding Books” with 60 pages and opted for the crystal glance finish for the cover, complete with the brown woven binding and a complimentary brown & brown/grey cloud leather design box to keep it all safe. All the pages of the album were then finished with the lab’s unique high definition printing.

A lot of work goes into the designing and preparation of an album prior to it being sent off for printing. All in, I can easily spend around a day and a half with the selection of the images, the initial design, making any changes the couple want and then finally, what I call my “signature” editing process on all the pictures contained within the album to make them look their absolute best for printing.
