“Boclair House” Wedding : Laura & Greg

Laura & Greg’s big day at the fabulous Boclair House kicked off a busy run of weddings for me, seven weddings in no less than four weeks which, for me amyway, is pretty unusual at that time of the year, as we’re usually on the wind down in the run up to the year end! This was also the first of two consecutive “double header” weekends – yep, I was busy guys – good job I’d just had a week away in Lanzarote LOL.

Having shot my previous wedding almost a month earlier, there was definitely a noticeable difference in the weather – the last days of summer having been replaced with an autumnal chill … and the clocks were about to go back too, but at least that did give us the option of a few shots in the dark … and you guys that follow me regularly will know that that’s right up my street!

So what of the day? Well I’ve got to say that this was one of the most chilled weddings I’d shot all year, and of course that really suited my laid back documentary style of shooting. The guys dispensed with any prep shots so my day started at the venue taking a few background shots before the guests started to arrive and then we were off and running.

Foregoing the traditional approach, Laura & Greg decided to walk down the aisle together and it was great to capture a “first look” shot at the bottom of the stairs prior to that – not something we get to do too much in this country, but all the better for it I say! Hey, you know, it’s your wedding day – you can pretty much do what you like – there’s no rule book that says you have to follow tradition.

As usual, I adopted my low-key documentary approach to the day, pausing only briefly for a few group shots and two very short “couple shoots”, one before and one after dinner, which is pretty much the way I roll these days good people – never let it be said that I’m “that” photographer that takes you away from the party LOL.

So guys, enough of my waffling, on with the pictures …

Laura & Greg, thank you very much for choosing me to shoot your amazing day! Here’s a few of my own favourite shots which I hope you all like. But please do let me know what you think – there’s a space for comments below the pictures :-).

Looking for “Documentary” Wedding Photography?

If you’re on the look-out for a wedding photographer (or know someone who is), then you may just like my “ninja style” (a couple’s words, not mine) low key approach to the day! Most couples tell me they didn’t even notice me for the majority of the day and that suits me … it is your wedding day after all, not a photo-shoot!

My style is very unposed, unfussy and focuses more on documenting your day rather than directing it. Minimal group shots (or even none at all if you prefer) and short couple shoots allow you spend more of the day with the people that matter and have a total blast!

I’m mainly taking bookings now for 2024 & 2025 but do still have some limited availability for this year too … but I do now only shoot one wedding per weekend so dates can be very limited during peak times.
