Well here we are then guys, my first wedding of 2024 and what a big surprise it was too!!! Not to me – it’s not as though I was dragged from the house to shoot a wedding I knew nothing about, or anything like that. No, a big surprise to all the guests (or the majority at least), who thought they’d been invited to a pre-wedding party but instead found they were attending Gaynor & George’s actual wedding instead!
The event took place last month at the fabulous Inglewood House, a place I know pretty well these days! And with the ceremony not kicking off until around 6.30pm, the day (or should I say evening) took on more of a celebration/party vibe rather than all the usual formalities of a wedding day … and that’s exactly what the guys wanted it to be, so aside from the briefest of pauses for a few group shots, for me, it was all about capturing the goings on … right up my street as you all know!
I kicked off about an hour before the ceremony with a few getting ready shots and then some of the guests arriving before Melanie made the announcement of the “surprise” wedding to all the guests. Of course, there’s no way rows of seats could have been laid out in the room beforehand as it would have given the game away so it was standing all the way for the ceremony, all adding to the uniqueness of the day. With the ceremony done and dusted it was pretty much time to party – I always love this part of the day at weddings so what a bonus to get to shoot so much of it this time … and with an amazing crowd too it was just brilliant!

If you’re on the look-out for a wedding photographer (or know someone who is), then you may just like my “ninja style” (a couple’s words, not mine) low key approach to the day! Most couples tell me they didn’t even notice me for the majority of the day and that suits me … it is your wedding day after all, not a photo-shoot!
My style is very unposed, unfussy and focuses more on documenting your day rather than directing it. Minimal group shots (or even none at all if you prefer) and short couple shoots allow you spend more of the day with the people that matter and have a total blast!
For the second year running, I’ve been recognised as Scotland’s No.1 ranked photographer with the WPJA (both photojournalism and artistic categories), UK Top 10 and World Top 50.
