“Rutherglen Town Hall” Wedding : Mary & Martin

Well it’s been a stuttering few weeks guys, what with the school summer holidays and getting away for a bit of a holiday too – actually getting to do some work has been sporadic to say the least, taking the chance whenever I can – it’s the same every year though with having kids of a school age kicking around your feet for weeks on end. But hey guys, silver linings and all that – the schools are back this week 🙂 and so am I – full throttle now for the next few months.

So, with the decks cleared, time to feature a new wedding on the blog and, this time around, I’m taking you back just a few weeks to mid July, when I was down at Rutherglen Town Hall to shoot Mary & Martin’s big day. Although I’d never shot a wedding at the Town Hall before, many years ago, I had been asked to do a styled shoot there for their new wedding brochure, so knew my way around … always a bonus!

So, what about the day itself then? Well, as usual, I kicked off with the prep shots at the nearby Burnside Hotel before heading to the venue. The guys were drawn to my candid, photojournalistic style of shooting so, aside from a handful of group shots and a super quick couple shoot at the main entrance, the whole day was pretty much shot as it happened, without any internventon from yours truly … just the way I like it.

Oh, and by the way … it rained all day … not that it mattered really – that’s the bonus of the way I work … absolutely no pressure whatsoever to get outside for “posed” pictures!

Anyway, enough waffle from me … as always, the pictures will tell the story of the day better than I can …

Mary & Martin, thank you very much for choosing me to shoot your fabulous wedding day! Here’s a few of my own favourite shots which I hope you all like.

Please do leave a comment though … it’s very much appreciated 🙂 – there’s a comment box right at the end of the pics!

The Pictures

Like what you see … want to book me?

If you’re getting married (or know someone who is), then you may just like my “ninja style” (a couple’s words, not mine) low key approach to the day! Most couples tell me they didn’t even notice me for the majority of the day and that suits me … it is your wedding day after all, not a photo-shoot!

My style is very unposed, unfussy and focuses more on documenting your day rather than directing it. Minimal group shots (or even none at all if you prefer) and short couple shoots allow you spend more of the day with the people that matter and have a total blast!

For the past two years, I’ve been recognised by the WPJA as Scotland’s top ranked wedding photojournalist, so you know you’re in safe hands :-).

I’m mainly taking bookings now for 2025 & 2026 but do still have some limited availability for this year too … but I do now only shoot one wedding per weekend so dates can be very limited during peak times. So do get in touch asap guys to check my availability.
