In my last post, I talked about how fabulous September was for weddings this year, and this one was no exception either when, for my second wedding of the month, I made my first ever trip to the fabulous Venachar Lochside to shoot Karen & Lee Ann’s big day!
I’ve always said that bad weather can never get in the way of an amazing wedding and no more was this put to the test than this very day. The forecast hadn’t looked great when I checked it the day before but, you know, they can be wrong sometimes – sadly, they were bang on this time and, mid-ceremony, the rain (coupled with strong wind too) just became too much so inside we scampered! That all said though, somehow, we did still get outside on and off during the very brief rain interludes, or at least when it was lighter, as I’m not sure it ever stopped at all really!
But the weather certainly didn’t spoil the party – on the contrary, as this was hands down one of the best days I’ve shot this year … and that was even before we got to the dancing in the evening!!! And, of course, that all really suited the way I shoot in my primarily documentary style, just roaming around and shooting what I saw. Great also to see Kate & Iain (and a few other familiar faces) once again who’s wedding I shot way back in 2016 – crikey, that seems a lieftime ago now.
As usual, the pictures will tell the story of the day far better than any words from me …
Karen & Lee Ann, thank you very much for choosing me to shoot your fabulous wedding day! Here’s a few of my own favourite shots which I hope you all like.
Please feel free to leave a comment if you like … it’s very much appreciated 🙂 – there’s a comment box right at the end of the pics!

Like what you see … want to book me?
If you’re getting married (or know someone who is), then you may just like my “ninja style” (a couple’s words, not mine) low key approach to the day! Most couples tell me they didn’t even notice me for the majority of the day and that suits me … it is your wedding day after all, not a photo-shoot!
My style is very unposed, unfussy and focuses more on documenting your day rather than directing it. Minimal group shots (or even none at all if you prefer) and short couple shoots allow you spend more of the day with the people that matter and have a total blast!
For the past two years, I’ve been recognised by the WPJA as Scotland’s top ranked wedding photojournalist, so you know you’re in safe hands :-).
I’m mainly taking bookings now for 2025 & 2026 but do still have some limited availability for this year too … but I do now only shoot one wedding per weekend so dates can be very limited during peak times. So do get in touch asap guys to check my availability.
